Creating Image Cover Fills in ARCHICAD

In this short tutorial, we'll demonstrate how to create image fills so you can add depth and visual impact to your 2D floorplans!

Image fills can also be useful in combination with Graphic Overrides, and made available in section, elevation and 3D documents as well!

This is how we create them.

Step 1. Select a ARCHICAD Surface Texture that you want to apply as an image fill.

(In this case, we'll use a finished architectural concrete and wood flooring)

Step 2. Check the texture image file

  • What is the name?
  • What is the size assigned to the surface?

Step 3. Create new Image Fill

  • Browse for Image (Library)
  • Set Size
  • Adjust Fill Pattern by toggling little dots.

Test & Apply!

Bonus Tip:

Create a graphic override to override the image fills. (This way you don't have to keep them turned on all the time).

Apply some rules to select which settings get overridden (material or surface), then add rule to G.O.

This is best done by setting up a criteria based on "Top Surface" of the elements you want to override.
